Plastic Dog Beds
All pets need somewhere to sleep and there are several different types of beds to be found in your local pet store: fabric, wicker and plastic. Though each have their own advantages, here we are going to discuss the pros of those made from plastic.
These beds are very durable and hardwearing and are able to withstand even quite boisterous behaviour from their occupants and are certainly more sturdy than any of the other types. Another plus point of plastic dog beds over fabric and wicker beds is that you can get really large dog beds for outsize breeds such as Great Danes. If you have a tiled floor then you may want to buy one with rubber feet so that it doesn’t slip when the weight of your large dog jumps into it.
When it comes to ease of cleaning these beds can’t be beaten as you can simply take them outside and rinse them out with a hose. Also, as plastic doesn’t take on board smells you can be guaranteed that the bed won’t give your house that ‘doggy’ smell. On top of this, plastic = waterproof dog beds. This is very useful if your dog has a tendency to jump in puddles or rivers and you don’t want him to drip all over your floor. You can simply take out the cushion and then make him stay in his bed until he has dried of before mopping up the residue from the bottom of the bed.
If you have an outdoor dog kennel then you may also want to add a further layer of insulation by putting not just a cushion but a whole dog bed into it. This will help to keep the dog warm in the cold weather and will provide a bit of a barrier to drafts.
