And, then Steven Tyler wore them on the stage of the American Idol 2011 season, proving that this fashion trend is not just for women.
As they became popular, people started getting them put in their hair in droves. This made them very popular. Wearing feathers in your hair became such a fashion statement because they come in so many different colors and patterns because they are taken from farm raised birds of many kinds.
The rooster feather gets the most attention because they produce the longest most luxurious plumes. If you have long hair you can take a rooster feather and it may reach the tips of your hair. Or if you have shorter hair, you get to save on the cost of the feathers because you can cut them down to size and reuse the left overs next time.
You can have them installed by a hair stylist, or you can install them yourself. You should have them installed for the first time by a professional to see how it’s done. They should last up to 3 months, and are durable. They can be washed and styles right along with your regular hair.
If you decide to put feather hair extensions in yourself, you will only need the feathers, the metal beads and a set of needle nose pliers. All you have to do it run a small amount of hair into the bead and run the bead up the hair shaft to the base. Then you insert the feather or feathers, and clamp it flat with the pliers. They will fall out when they are ready to come out and you can repeat the process.
